Urodynamics and A Special Treat - Isabella with her New ARGOs

Image
Yesterday was one of the most tiring days of this week. We woke up at 5:00 am to get to the hospital to have Isabella get her Urodynamics test done. We got there early, and we were the first ones to get in, and since we got out early, we went to the mall, but only got to see two stores when it was time to go back to another appointment at Ortho Pro to get her new braces! We were at Ortho Pro for three hours... we were exhausted and hungry, but finally got her new pair of braces! They are wonderful! Here she is playing with sand at my tia Fela's house:

What We are Doing Today

Image
Today is my mimi's birthday and we are going shopping! At 3:00 pm we have and appointment to pcik up Maria Isabella's new ARGO's....yeah! Here is Aldo trying on on her, her new AFOs: And while we were waiting, look at what Isabella showed us she can do...I was so surprised, she can hold herself for a few seconds without the need to support herself without the need of one of her hands: And here is Mimi and Mari at Dadeland's mall food court:

What are DMSA and VCUG Tests

I don't know what DMSA stands for. All I know it's the name of an acid that's injected into the patient's vein. After two hours of having been injected with this acid, they take pictures. Yesterday's stay at the hospital was a stressful one. We were there from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. In between the two hour waiting, we had the VCUG test. Basically this test consists of filling the bladder with a contrast liquid, then they take pictures, then they empty the bladder.

Test Day

Ok, I am at Miami Children Hospital.  We have two tests scheduled for today a DMSA and a VCUG.  We woke up at 5:00 am to get ready and be here on time.  I was glad to be earlier than I had expected thinking I would get out of here sooner than expected.  But as usual prescription wasn't sent from the Doctor's office, and the office is closed right now!  I have to wait until they open and the person in charge comes.  I feel frustrated.  Yet, I feel so happy mimi is with us on this trip.  I don't feel lonely, I feel supported!  When we woke up Isabella she was quite sleepy, I thought she was going to be on a bad mood, thank God she isn't.  She drank a glass of milk and cookies, we had no time for a healthier breakfast.  Right now she is watching Mickey Mouse Club. Yesterday I was so tired, I slept so deeply.  I am worried about Roger and Marce, the person that was supposed to take care of them today was supposed to show up yeste...

How I have dealt with my Daughter's ADHD

Maria Isabella is really too young to be disgnosed with ADHD, but she has many characteristics of kids with ADHD; so, we are treating her as if she had it. In fact it is so hard for her to focus on something, and for this reason it has been so hard for her to learn to read. She goes to weekly therapy with the psychologist and just started neuronet therapy two times a week. I've also been following the psychologist's recommendation like limiting the amount of candy she eats and limiting the amount of time she watches tv. She seems to be improving her attention span and she seems to be managing impulsivity much better. It's hard though, she goes to pre-school everyday. Physical therapy, 3 times a week, neuronet 2 times a week, meeting with psychologist once a week, home study 1 hour a day plus homework she gets from school. I really don't know how she even gets time to play, but she does.

We have to travel to Miami on Sunday

I am so stressed out. On Sunday morning Mari and I have to travel To Miami again. I was there just two months ago. My travel reasons are to pick up Maris ARGOs, we have appointments for three tests, and one doctor appointment. It really doesn't bother me to travel that much. What really bothers me is to leave Marce and Roger. The worst part is that I'm not going to be here for Marcella's Birthday. I know I shouldn't feel guilty, but I do. When I made my travel plans and appointments, I didn't realize I was going to be away for this special day.

From Being Sick to talking about Mari's Development

Image
Isabella is sick since Sunday. Since she has no symptoms of having a cold or any other respiratory disease, we thought it could be a urinary track infection. The lab results said she does have an infection. Yesterday we took her to the urologist since this is the third month in a row that she gets an infection. I am a little worried. Apparently bacteria has become resistant to the prophilactic (daily antibiotic in small doses to prevent infections) she takes daily. So now it needs to be changed. Today she didn't go to class. She spent all morning with me. She watched a little bit of tv and then we started in our daily study routine. I am so excited to watch Maria Isabella learn to read, count, recognize numbers, and add. This has been a very difficult process. I think perseverance and patience were and still are the key factors to succeed. This reminds me of something I learned in my Behavior and Classroom Management course I took last February. It was on Differentiated Instruc...

Roger's Milestones

He is now using sideways shuffling steps to move around the table. He is already eating regular food from the house. Throwing kisses. Waving bye bye. He has 2 big teeth coming from above! He loves to play with wheels. For example, the stroller wheels, Maria Isabella's walker wheels, his push car wheels...basically he plays with and loves anything that contains wheels. We just found out he doesn't like refried beans or gallo pinto. Bad Nica!

A Comprenhensive Update About my Life

I am so into taking pictures and photoshop. I am completely addicted to it. So I hadn't had the chance to write about me or the girls or the baby. Today the girls went back to school after a 10 days easter break. At this point I really don't care whether they stay home or go to school. They both have reached a point of independence that allows me to do stuff on my own. If they stay home I don't have to worry about dropping them off or picking them up after school. Yet, when they go to school, I really get to enjoy the moments of silence during Roger's 2 hour morning nap. Mari is doing great progress on her reading process, she is recognizing numbers from 1 to 100, and is already learning to add! I have so many worries about Mari. I feel so guilty about her mobility and independence issues. She seems to be happy the way she is, in reality she doesn't know any other way to be, although I guess she can see it. But I can't help it, guilt has become a part of my l...

Que alegre es compartir en Familia

Image
El album entero se encuentra en el Link de Photos Trinitaria se llamaba la casa donde nos hospedamos. Una vista preciosa desde la casa y casi desde todo el Resort. Disfrutando del Desayuno! Having fun in the pool with Popo and Mita. Having fun inside the house!
