Maria Isabella's Continence Surgery

Last year we scheduled this continence surgery for Maria Isabella. Basically they did one called MACE which is to control her pupu and Mitrofanoff to control pipi. She also had reimplantation of her urinary catheters to fix her reflux. So this Wednesday she went into surgery. At the beginning we didn't really have much information about the surgery and we thought it was going to be a simple one. But it was harder that we had expected. Even the preparation for surgey was hard. To prepare her for surgery, they had to clean her intestines. We started at home with fleet enemas, and we thought that was going to be enough. But when we arrived at the hospital, we learned they had to clean her system even more with this medicine that she had to drink. The medicine is very salty and bad flavoured so they had to introduce a catheter into her nose to her tummy. That really frightened me. And it was very uncomfortable for her. She was also frightened. The surgery wasn't a simple ...

Updates

It's been a while since I've posted. I really have many things to post but didn't quite find the time to do it. Anyways, some of the highlights are that first of all, Maria Isabella is going to first grade!!!!! She has learned to read quite fluently and every once in a while, we find her reading stuff on the streets. Roger is growing so fast! He's now 2 years old! I still find it hard to manage him. Marcella is going to fourth grade. Always on the Outstanding Citenzship Award. Isabella and Roger are staying at Altamar, and Marcella will continue on St. Dominic.

Drenaron Líquido

Image
Casi me muero!!!!!!!

After and almost 8 hour wait.......

After a 7 hour long surgery, we were told that everything went fine. As a precaution, Isabella will spend the night at the intensive care unit. When we saw her she was a bit uncomfortable. She wanted to take off the oxygen tube and bandage on her head. She's hungry and thirsty. She was just given a dosage of morphine and fell asleep.

Craniosynostosis Surgery

Image
We find ourselves in Costa Rica once again. Mari just entered the operating room. Previous to this day, Mari seemed so brave, but my heart was broken when to my surprise, just when they came to get her to go to the operating room she started crying. Where did all the courage go? Fortunately, the doctors allowed me to put on a gown an take her all the way to the room until she fell asleep with general anesthesia. Here are some pics of her. One of them shows her proudly posing her lost tooth.

Isabellás 6th Birthday!

Welcome 2010! Hope this year comes with tons of blessings for all my friends, family, and me. 2009 was a really tough year. Starting out with my sudden out of the blue separation and Isabella's craniosynostosis diagnosis at the end of last year. Anyways, 2010 welcomed us with the loss of Isabella's first tooth and a very Happy Birthday for my little girl. Here are some pics of Isabella's birthday celebration at her school Colegio Altamar:
